The Rent Indexation Act (MieWeG) came into force on 1 January 2026, introducing changes in key areas of tenancy law. Completely new legal provisions apply to the indexation of residential rents. The minimum term for residential tenancy agreements has been extended and the deadlines for tenants to reclaim rent payments have been specified.
